IBM's memory chip uses 22-nanometer technology
The world’s first memory chip built using 22-nanometer technology was recently announced by IBM. The chip size makes it at least two generations away from today’s most developed chips. IBM’s smallest chip before this was 45 nanometers. Meanwhile, IBM is planning to expand its operations at Albany NanoTech by investing about $375 million, and this is just a part of the expansion that IBM has been planning for a while. The development of future generation chips and successfully using nanotechnology may help boost IBM sales and also make it a stronger player in the semiconductor and chip-making industry.
