Flying the WeBlimp
|
Developed by Nathan Waddington, Andrew Thong, and Brian Quan, students at Simon Foster University in Canada, the WeBlimp will be seen flying at the Winter Olympics. The helium-powered crowd-controlled balloon measure 3-feet in length and has a camera installed within, flying over the crowd, the WeBlimp provides a bird’s eye-view of the navigated area, transmitting aerial shots and videos to the control room. The radio-controlled flyer can shift its collective center of gravity to turn around, which makes it easier for the pilot to control it and guide it through narrow spaces. Follow the jump to see the video demonstration after the jump.
