The First Fully Functional Phone Car
Phones and cars are often used in the same context and, whether it's just drivers who can't help talking on the phone while on the road, or mobile phones designed in collaboration with famous car manufacturers, the phone – car connections are manifold.
Howard Davis, an American businessman who owns a Telecoms company, has thought about making the car-phone connection as straightforward as possible and built the Phone Car, a fully functional vehicle that resembles and old-style telephone.

The Phone Car is not a new concept, as it was built back in 1983, after almost two years of hard work and dedication. Howard Davis has made the unusual car out of a Volkswagen Beetle manufactured in 1975. He took off the original body of the car, kept its chassis, assembled a giant telephone on it and painted it in red. Initially build only for trade shows, the Phone Car was kept hidden for a while, but now Howard Davis has brought it to the streets and he showcases it on different tours across the US, to the astonishment and joy of those who get the chance to see it.

Enlarge pictureYou might think that a car with such a look could not possibly be "legal", but the Phone Car is actually "fully registered in Massachusetts" and anyone can drive it, on any road. Of course, the vehicle can't go too fast, but that's about the only thing that differentiates it from an ordinary car (in terms of functionality).

With this Phone Car already being built for some years now, we're waiting for a car that resembles a mobile phone to be unveiled. I'm sure it will get at least as much attention as the telephone-shaped one that Howard Davis put together.
